God’s grace is an undeserved, unmerited gift. It is not something we could ever earn through our own efforts. When we understand the depth of our sin, helplessness and inability to save ourselves, we desperately seek deliverance. We search for protection from the coming storm of God’s wrath against all wickedness. Only then do we rightly value the gift of salvation through faith in Christ. This radical, free gift of God’s grace changes us from the inside out, transforming proud rebels into humble servants. It melts hard hearts, making them soft and pliable in the Potter’s hands. The grace we receive overflows into a life of obedience, worship and joyful service to our gracious King.
Questions:
- Do you view your salvation as something you earned or merited? Or do you see it clearly as an undeserved gift of God’s grace? How does this understanding impact your attitude and actions?
- In what ways have you experienced the transforming power of God’s grace in your life? How has it overflowed into deeper love for God and others?
