Empty Hands of Faith

To receive the gift of salvation, we must come to God with empty hands of faith. This means recognizing our complete inability to save ourselves by good works or religious deeds. It means confessing we have nothing to offer the Lord that could earn His favor. Faith is laying aside all trust in our own righteousness and relying fully on what Christ has accomplished for us. When we cease striving to justify ourselves, we can freely accept the justification Jesus provides. Faith receives grace; it does not merit grace. As we walk with Christ daily, we must continue coming to Him with open and empty hands, trusting His power rather than our own.

Questions:

  1. Are you still trying to earn salvation in any way, or have you fully surrendered to receiving it as an undeserved gift? What needs to change in your mindset?
  2. How can you practically exercise faith today by relying on Christ’s strength rather than your own in all things?
