The first essential truth Paul wants us to know and experience is “the hope to which God has called us” (Ephesians 1:18). This hope is nothing less than the glorious future that awaits all believers in Jesus. It includes the promise of a new creation, transformed physical bodies, eternal life dwelling with God, and the end of sin’s curse. This unshakable hope in our future inheritance transforms our values, perspective, purpose, and priorities in the present. It lifts our eyes from the seen to the unseen. This hope is anchored in Jesus’ resurrection, which guarantees the fulfillment of all God’s promises. As we set our hope fully on the grace to be given to us at Jesus’ return, it reshapes how we live, dream, risk, sacrifice, give, and serve today.
- How often do you reflect on the hope that awaits you as a believer? What stirs hope in your heart?
- How could a greater grasp of your future hope change how you live, dream, and risk today?
