Opening Our Eyes

In Ephesians 1:18, Paul prays for the eyes of the Ephesians’ hearts to be enlightened. We often read the Bible and hear sermons about God’s truth, yet fail to fully grasp and internalize those spiritual truths. We need more than just information—we need revelation that penetrates our hearts. That happens when God opens the eyes of our hearts through the illuminating work of the Holy Spirit. This is what Paul longed for the Ephesians to experience. He knew that when we pray, God enlightens the eyes of our spiritual understanding to see, know, and experience what is already true but not yet fully perceived or embraced. There are wondrous spiritual realities described in Scripture that we have access to, but they remain veiled until the Holy Spirit gives us eyes to see and ears to hear.

What area of spiritual truth do you most want God to open your eyes to see more clearly?
