Faith Works Sermon Devotional Day Three: Justified by Works?

To explain that faith without works is dead, James gives the examples of Abraham and Rahab who were “justified by works” (James 2:21, 25). This does not contradict justification by faith alone. Rather, it shows that genuine faith will demonstrate itself through righteous actions. The faith that justifies us before God is never alone – it comes with repentance, obedience, and good deeds. How do your works testify to the authenticity of your faith?

Reflection Questions:

  • When have your works aligned with or contradicted your stated faith?
  • What fruit is the Spirit producing in you? How can you cooperate with His work?
