I’m a follower of Jesus, happily married to a godly and wonderful woman with three children at home. My calling is to serve the body of Christ through the ministry of the Word, prayer, and pastoring. My primary place of service is as the Senior Pastor at Covenant Church of Naples | PCA where I have served since 2010.
After graduating from West Virginia University with a degree in Finance, my wife and I served as missionaries in the Czech Republic. From there God led us to Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri where we spent four wonderful years being “rooted in grace for a lifetime of ministry.” During that time I also pastored a small congregation and we started our journey into the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA). After graduation, we spent a short but formative year interning at Park Cities Presbyterian Church in Dallas, Texas before receiving a call to our present ministry.
In 2015 I completed a Doctor of Ministry degree from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in Hamilton, Massachusetts. The focus of my research was seeking to understand the challenges that being wealthy creates for spiritual formation, and then in light of those challenges, discern how we as leaders of churches can better love and serve the wealthy toward conformity to Christ. In 2023, I published 2 Corinthians: God’s Strength in Our Weakness in the Reformed Expository Commentary Series. I also recently graduated from the Program for Leadership Development (PLD 38) at Harvard Business School.
I aim to use this blog as an extension of my preaching ministry at Covenant and also to be a place where I share book reviews and other material that may be of use to the people I pastor or to my fellow servants in ministry.
Love to all,
–Trent
